The (dis)honourable Jason Kenney

The (dis)honourable Jason Kenney: Minister of Censorship, Deportation and Assimilation.

On Sunday, November 4th, Jason Kenney and some of Canada’s most wealthy elites gathered in Toronto, at the Royal York Hotel, to celebrate Haifa University’s honorary degree granted to the minister for his support of the Israeli State.

Here at The Public Studio, we are tired of having a government that dehumanizes refugees, strips workers from their basic rights, criminalizes migrants, and supports policies that destroy Indigenous communities and environments. We are tired of having an overtly racist man in power, and in a position where the lives of workers, people of colour, undocumented and refugee, queer and trans people are in his hands.

There is nothing honourable about a man who spends his career defending the rich and their profit, while simultaneously punishing and persecuting migrants, destroying and displacing families, and supporting other governments’ war and occupations.

The Public stands in solidarity with the more than 400 people who came out to block the Royal York entrances on Sunday evening. We are in solidarity with the plight for Palestinian dignity and self-determination, and for this, we deem Kenney’s un-critical support of Israel shameful, to say the least.

The Public Studio appreciates the efforts to disrupt this dishonourable event, and we applaud the medical professionals and other people who were able to drop banners inside. We know this is a sign that our movement against racism, discrimination and occupation is growing, and that we can be a united front towards a better world.

The is no honour in a celebration of war, racism, profit, displacement, apartheid and anti-migrant xenophobia! Jason Kenney, Out! Stephen Harper, Out!
