Reflecting on white privilege

Posted August 26, 2015

The Re-think, Re-connect, Re-imagine booklet on white privilege is in studio! – the latest product of our collaboration with the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.

The ETFO passed a resolution at the last annual meeting to initiate workshops and materials introducing the concept of white privilege to its members. The motion was initiated by the Black/ally caucus and was in response to the Danzig shooting and an acknowledgement that membership is not representative of the broader student population and could be working harder to bridge gaps.

The creative, developed by The Public, frames the process of confronting or acknowledging privilege as the first in a longer plan to better relate to students and, in turn, to build a better world. The full process is one that requires (re)thinking, (re)connecting and (re)imagining.
