The Celebration of Learning for the Peer Leaders Diabetes Program
Today Sheila and Maria (our new intern from the York-Sheridan design program!) headed out to PTP Adult Learning & Employment Programs for the Celebration of Learning for the Peer Leaders Diabetes Program. Sheila facilitated a creative workshop with the peer leaders back in March.
The peer leaders have been busy, honing their skills and spreading the word about Type II Diabetes prevention among their friends, families and classmates. Today, they facilitated a poster-making session based on the Prevent It campaign idea, and the four posters multiplied, to, well, a whole wall-full!
The school was packed for presentations, activities (including “diabetes bingo!”), a video screening and a delicious healthy lunch covering all the food groups in the Canada Food Guide. It was great to see the peer leaders again and to watch the ripple effect of this very important project!
