Toronto Women’s City Alliance’s videos call for gender-based urban planning

Posted August 13, 2015

Toronto Women’s City Alliance “promotes equity and equality by making audible and visible the voices and issues of diverse women in Toronto.” TWCA’s advocacy is aimed at increasing civic engagement among women by providing access points into municipal politics and gender-sensitive planning.

The Public worked with TWCA to create a video series that explores the intersectional ways in which women do and do not access municipal services and advocates for gender-centered municipal planning. By focusing on specific facets of urban planning such as: transit, housing and recreation, these two-minute videos give voice to key issues and solutions to the inequity of municipal services that directly impact women in Toronto.
