Still Working on the Edge: Building Decent Jobs from the Ground Up

Posted August 12, 2015

While thousands of people across the country struggle with low wage and precarious work, whether it be recent immigrants, workers of colour, women or youth, there still remains a lack of resources on low wage and precarious workers’ rights.

The Workers’ Action Centre is “a worker-based organization committed to improving the lives and working conditions of people in low-wage and unstable employment” that strives to ensure that all workers have a voice at work and are treated with dignity and fairness. WAC believes that people who are directly affected by poor working conditions should be providing leadership in our struggle for fairness and dignity at work.

The Public worked with WAC on the design of their report on the Employment Standards Act (ESA), “Still Working on the Edge: Building Decent Jobs from the Ground Up,” to offer a full analysis of the ESA and what needs to change in order to create decent work in Ontario while centering the real voices of workers and the changes they want to see.
